About the Conference

Cities around the world are at the crossroads of rapid urbanization, climate change, cultural transformation, and socio-economic inequities. As urban centers expand, the pressing need for inclusive, resilient, and sustainable solutions has never been more urgent.

The conference on Smart and Sustainable Urbanism relates to the global scenario of rapid urbanization unfolding in increasingly contested landscapes. As cities strive to balance economic growth and technological advancement in urban infrastructure, urban ecologies are being challenged to conserve both heritage assets and the natural environment.

The conference seeks to bring together scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to deliberate on these critical intersections and propose resilient pathways for the future. Odisha, with its rich heritage, unique climatic challenges, and emerging urban landscapes, offers a critical context for discourse and action.

The launch of the Odisha Urban Design Hub (OUDH) by the Housing & Urban Development Department reflects the state’s focus on integrated planning, heritage conservation, climate resilience, and community engagement, which aligns closely with the core themes of the conference.

This conference provides a platform to engage with global experts and strengthen the state’s strategic urban agenda through academic and professional collaboration.
